MUSIC OF INDIA~~GATEWAY TO THE SOUL

I am certain by now most of you know of my passion and respect for India's Spirituality. I end my posts with a Namaste. When I was 16 years old I went to my first Ravi Shankar concert at the university of California in Riverside. Words cannot express what feelings and connection I had with his music and my spirit and soul was caressed by it. Who knew that decades later I would return to this connection.

What has attracted me to Indian Music is the feeling that life experiences of the musician are coming through the instruments. Just look at the expressions of the musicians. Ancient instruments expressing ancient Spirituality.

  1. I TOOK UP INDIAN LITERATURE IN MY MASTERAL STUDIES AND I FOUND INDIAN MUSIC QUITE WEIRD AND MONOTONOUS.AT ODD TIMES, THE MELODY WAS EERIE.BUT THE LYRICS WERE INSPIRATIONAL!

  2. Yes, on the surface the music can be Monotonous. Such music, however, is used for meditation as it can be soothing for the spirit. Indian music may speak loudest as to what one feels inside. Maybe we can solicit the opinion of the Indians who live with the music.
