EARTH-DAY ~~ A TIME TO ELEVATE OUR CONSCIOUSNESS

 The following excerpt comes from

"The Earth-day Network"

"The idea came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by the student anti-war movement, he realized that if he could infuse that energy with an emerging public consciousness about air and water pollution, it would force environmental protection onto the national political agenda. Senator Nelson announced the idea for a “national teach-in on the environment” to the national media; persuaded Pete McCloskey, a conservation-minded Republican Congressman, to serve as his co-chair; and recruited Denis Hayes as national coordinator. Hayes built a national staff of 85 to promote events across the land.

As a result, on the 22nd of April, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. Thousands of colleges and universities organized protests against the deterioration of the environment. Groups that had been fighting against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness, and the extinction of wildlife suddenly realized they shared common values."

With Earth day falling in the middle of Christian Holy week I decided to make this post earlier then its day of acknowledgment. Ironically the 22nd  of April is also Good Friday which is the most revered day of The Christian Holy week. Having said that. I believe Christianity can be aware also of the importance of saving our planet that same day, as if it were not for our planet there would be no Humanity and all living things.

When I look at my children, I sometime tear as I cannot help wonder how much longer our planet might be as we know it. With the changes Mother Earth is going through with the polar shift, we do not need to continue to abuse it.
No one says it better then our Native People

When all the trees have been cut down,
when all the animals have been hunted,
when all the waters are polluted,
when all the air is unsafe to breathe,
only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

  1. Our Mother Earth's heartbeat resonating within our souls calls out to us asking each one to embrace the rhythms of life in our consciousness, singing her sweet song as the whales within the deep blue hoping we will be listening! Connecting with that inherent Divinity within we have the opportunity to rise above the mundane serving our Relations and each other as a unified family, a Brotherhood/Sisterhood as ONE sharing Light, Love and Joy in exultation of the Wisdom realized within. Care Takers we must become for every next generation. Mitakuye Oyasin
